In
line with the Government’s policy on ICT penetration,
InternetGhana has responded positively by offering free
Internet connectivity to a number of schools.
In
September 2003, His Excellency the President J. A Kufour
through the special Advisor to the Minister of Education,
Youth and Sports selected a number of first
and second cycle schools
for free DSL Internet service provision by InternetGhana.
The schools
were picked from a national point of view. These are
categorized as follows:
JUNIOR
SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Darkuman Junior Secondary
School – Accra
St.
Ann’s Anglican Junior Secondary School
– Kumasi
Kwaku Baoteng Junior Secondary School – Koforidua
West Ridge Primary & Junior Secondary Schools –
Accra
SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Tema Secondary
School – Tema
Kumasi
High School – Kumasi
Ablekuma Vocational Training Institute – Accra
Holy Child Secondary School – Cape Coast
Ghana National Secondary School – Koforidua
Mawuli Secondary School – Ho
InternetGhana has to date installed four (4) out of
the ten (10) selected Schools due to some barriers beyond
our control. These includes non availability of working
Telephone lines and partly due to lack of our Point
of Presence (POP) of service.
However,
with the proposed Nationwide Wireless Program in sight,
the outstanding six (6) would be connected on Blistering
High Speed Internet Service by the dawn of 2007.
